Fast forward a year, and I received a message from Curtis that was as unexpected as it was delightful: “Do you accept cash?” Slightly amused, I confirmed and shared our address. Shortly after, Curtis appeared with a cash deposit—no invoice, no quote—simply a level of trust that speaks volumes. This is the trust that Outlandish cultivates with our clients. Curtis then had just one request: call Khanyi, let her know the wedding planning had officially begun, and assure her that everything would be perfect.

When I called Khanyi to deliver the news, she was so overcome with emotion that she had to pause, hanging up in happy tears. This heartfelt moment is exactly what drives me. It’s what transforms an Outlandish event into an experience—a journey where clients feel valued, cherished, and genuinely cared for.

With Khanyi’s blessing, we embarked on an unforgettable planning journey, starting with the search for her dream venue. She ultimately selected a beautiful property along the Vaal River, though it presented certain logistical challenges. Outlandish prides itself on collaborating with venues that prioritize service over profit, especially for clients who have invested in booking the entire property. Unfortunately, this venue proved inflexible and difficult, restricting access at times that hindered our ability to deliver to our exacting standards.

Despite these setbacks, Outlandish’s commitment to excellence meant we pushed forward, making Khanyi’s vision a reality. Together, we chose a serene palette of whites, nudes, and browns—soft, elegant tones that exude sophistication. Khanyi envisioned ceiling installations with cascading floral arrangements, luxurious drapery, and radiant chandeliers. I crafted a bespoke design that captured her dreams, and each idea we proposed was met with excitement.

However, the venue’s rigid restrictions continued to impact our process, limiting our setup time and adding unnecessary stress to what should have been a seamless experience. Nevertheless, Outlandish rose to the occasion. With perseverance and precision, our team worked tirelessly, transforming the venue into a haven of elegance, despite the venue’s constraints.

Our design choices were as luxurious as they were thoughtful. Delicately selected flowers adorned each space, complementing custom stone table numbers. Chandeliers and floral arrangements danced from the ceiling, harmonizing beautifully with the drapery. Khanyi and Curtis’s vows were elegantly scripted along the aisle, a personal touch that made their journey to the dancefloor unforgettable.

Entertainment was woven throughout the event, setting an enchanting tone from start to finish. Curtis walked to the music of a saxophonist, and Khanyi made her way down the aisle to the serenade of a grand pianist. Following their vows, guests were serenaded by a violinist in a floating bubble, leading them into a reception filled with surprises, including fire dancers and an evening orchestrated by the charismatic MC, Nimrod Nkosi.

One of the standout moments was the chandelier cake stand, suspended from the ceiling—a dramatic and luxurious feature, crafted specially for Khanyi’s day. Each detail was carefully curated to embody Outlandish’s commitment to bespoke, high-end experiences. From LED ballerinas to mesmerizing dancers, every moment was imbued with a sense of grandeur and celebration, ensuring the event was unforgettable.
