Hey everyone – can’t wait to share this gorgeous Rustic Pre-Wedding Reception with you – We styled this event pre lockdown, when life was a party! Looking at these images and other event images around the world, makes me realise how much I love what I do and how much I miss it. I hope that after this pandemic, weddings and events will be celebrated bigger, bolder and louder. This is my positive thinking right now and I refuse to believe anything else.

How are you guys holding up in lockdown?

For us, the last two weeks have been a rollercoaster rides of all sorts of emotions. My kids are also feeling this and they are missing their friends, school and family. Both my daughter and son were in tears two nights in a row thinking of life with their peers pre-lockdown. As for myself, I have had a few days of crying over this uncertainty not knowing what will happen given the fact that social gatherings are not allowed even at level one. I am not going to get into what can and can’t be done as it’s too much energy that’s required from me right now and I don’t have that so let’s focus on the positives like this gorgeous rustic pre-wedding reception we had the honour of creating for a lovely couple.

Rustic Pre-Wedding Reception

This Rustic Pre-Wedding Reception we styled was very special and different. My client, the bride wanted a different kind of set up for her guests after the official ceremony. The actual reception was to be held in Cape Town itself a week later.

So this wedding gathering was to be informal, relaxed and laid back. Everything was set up in a marquee. We created different lounge pockets along with cocktail tables and bar stools.

Keeping to a different sort of set up, the evening consisted of a grazing table for guests to nibble on. We also had a live coffee station and a cookie / cake station to go along with the coffees. We provided a live hot station for those guests who wanted some hot foods such as corndogs, chowmein, fried chicken etc. For desserts, the guests were treated to a live rolled ice cream station as well as a variety of churros.

Creating different live stations for my bride worked very well with the kind of set up she had in mind. Casual, informal and relaxed. This informal yet stylish setup allowed guests to mingle with each other more than a formal sit down meal.

Rustic Pre-Wedding Reception – Colour Schemes

My bride wanted an all white set up with touches of wood and greenery to create the rustic ambience and that’s exactly what we gave her. We added touches of black and gold to ensure the set up had it touch of glam and elegance.

My favourite elements in this rustic pre-wedding reception were two things. The personalised photo backdrop as well as the greenery hanging over the grazing table. The grazing table was a wow factor thus we did a 9 metre greenery  installation with rustic light bulbs over the table.
