I have always wanted to style a nautical themed event. When this client contacted me to style his wife’s baby shower, I was overjoyed! I love the Nautical theme. I have a thing for stripes of any color. Navy blue and white with some reds set the tone for this Nautical Glam Baby Shower. However, for someone like me who is always styling luxurious events, I decided to add a bit of glam. So a touch of gold it was! I quite enjoy working with the men who contacts me to surprise their wives. They pick a theme (or gives me the pleasure to) and leaves the rest in my capable hands. So I can chop and change and play around. Hubbies gets all the brownie points, wives are happy and me… I have unleashed my creativity! It’s a win all round kind of situation!!

Back to this Nautical Glam Baby Shower… The venue of choice was The River Cabin. Besides the fact that this is my all time favourite venue, it is situated on banks of the Jukskei River. I thought it was quite ideal for the theme. For our decor set up, instead of going with striped runners, I opted for striped tablecloths. It lifted the whole set up quite magnificently. Something this small can really elevate the event to another level. I used gold sequinced runners on the edge of the table. We brought it in the reds through the flower arrangements and under plates. I didn’t want the red to overpower the whole set up thus toned it down to just these two elements.

Nautical Glam Baby Shower Dessert Table Set Up

The backdrop of choice was the gold sequinced one to pull in the elements of the runners. You will notice that instead of using the old school type of lanterns, I added a twist by incorporating some geometric lanterns on the table. On the dessert table, we brought in a different type of lantern in gold and stacked the desserts in them. My client and his wife are macaron addicts thus we had a display of macarons beneath the cake. Cake pop and cupcakes in the theme were a vital element of the dessert table. The guests were spoilt to some lovely and mouth-watering canapes. Have a look at the photos and I am sure it will leave you drooling over your phone or laptop!
