I have been meaning to post this Mermaid Oasis 1st birthday party for a while now but it has been a crazy couple of weeks indeed! So many things happened and so many wonderful events were styled by us too! One of our highlights has been our TV interview on DSTV Channel 347 – if you missed it, here’s the link:  – We had our first destination luxury wedding at Sun City in the beginning of September and I can’t wait to tell it all in my next blog post! It was an amazing experience. Outlandish Events also had the pleasure of flying down to Cape Town last week to style a heritage set up for one of our corporate clients. So watch this space guys, we have a lot of exciting things in the pipeline!

Back to this gorgeous Mermaid Oasis 1st birthday party we had the pleasure of styling for a little one year old girl. We also did the mum’s baby shower the year before so to be able to style the baby’s 1st birthday party is really special for us! My client was looking for a trendy theme and a glamorous one at the same time. After browsing the latest themes at the time, we settled on this mermaid oasis theme – we loved the soft color palettes and even more so, we love the customized baked goodies. Edible pearls and shells just finished off this event perfectly.

Mermaid Oasis 1st Birthday Party Venue Choice

The venue which my client chose was the Peartree Lifestyle Centre – my two cents on this venue… Not my first choice – with these kids party venues, there is always a loophole with set up times. They give us one hour to set up which is extremely ridiculous. I dislike working with such types of venues. So if I want to set up 3 hours before time, my client is expected to pay an additional venue hire fee. I feel that that is daylight robbery. When a venue is hired out, the venue owner should allow at least 2 hours for set up without an additional cost. Our events are usually lavish thus does take a lot longer to set up. I feel these types of venues which tries to fit in two or even three parties in one Saturday does not care of the quality of events a client wants. They are more worried about how much money they can fit in their pockets in a day… Anyway, that’s just my thoughts – feel free to disagree or share your experiences with us.

Mermaid Oasis 1st Birthday Party Decor Set Up

To start off, we planned the design of the kids table with beautiful centerpieces which consisted of corals, sea shells and sea horses. We opted for a gold sequinced runner to emphasize on the mermaid’s tail. We found these gorgeous paper tableware which worked so well in bringing the mermaid oasis theme to life. Personalized water bottles were provided for each kid with the birthday girl’s name beautifully printed on them. We love to add just the right amount of that personal touch.

The dessert table was just wow with all the edible goodies created for it. The cake was a show stopper. Our aim was to make the dessert table look magical and we were successful in achieving that. We had a variety of mermaid oasis themed cookies, cupcakes, cake pops and cupcakes. Look at these images and let your jaws drop!
