40th Birthday Party – Steampunk Harley Davidson
2 April 2019It’s been a while since I wrote one of these posts and haven’t realised how much I missed it until now! Today we are talking about this Co-Ed BaBy Q Baby Shower I had the honour to style for one of our high profile clients.
If you don’t know what is a Co-Ed Baby Shower, then you better hop on board as this an emerging trend in South Africa for hosting a couple’s baby shower. We love the idea of a couple baby shower as we feel that it took two to make the baby and both parents are equally responsible for the wellbeing and upbringing of this baby so why not have a celebration to honour both the mom and dad instead of just the mom? Do you agree?
Our Co-Ed BaBy Q Baby Shower Couple
Well, agree or not, here we feature our Greek couple, Liza’s and John’s BaBy Q – as in BBQ but BaBy Q.. Get it? Love the theme! The couple wanted an informal relaxed ambience where all their friends and family can enjoy a great time in celebrating this unborn baby. So the planning started with cocktail tables and umbrellas by the pool area. We opted to have a variety of different stations as the main mean would be a Barbeque / Braai.
Amongst the many stations, we had a live sushi bar, a milkshake and ice cream parlour, a canapés station and a dessert station. All the guests had a blast with these variety of edibles and every item were very much enjoyed by all. Some Greek selection foods were included too as this beautiful family is of Greek origin.
Decor and Colour Scheme – Co-Ed BaBy Q Baby Shower
The colour scheme for this Co-Ed BaBy Q Baby Shower was blue and white as the couple knew they were expecting a little boy. We opted for blue and white striped tablecloths. Many times, we undermine the role a tablecloth plays a fail to visualize this. Personally, a tablecloth can either make or break an event and I always advise on careful selection of this item and it’s colour. For this event, the tablecloths really created the feel we were going for and also added colour to the whole area.
Balloon garlands are a must nowadays. It’s the trendiest party element of all time. Thus we installed a balloon garland by the entrance along with a welcome board, we had a balloon garland under the patio area as a welcome feature to the area where the party was happening. To finish it off, we had to add this to the dessert station as that was our WOW factor.
